Is it still available? This is a deal breaker for me as I drive a lot on the highways of India and Google Maps has been a very useful feature for me...

Hello all fans of Blackberry India. There is good news on Maps.

BB Z10s purchased from 'authorised' sources are eligible for FREE downloads of MapMyIndia.com detailed driving maps with voice instructions in India. Rejoice.

Now let me crack the calendar.

I downloaded the MapMyIndia app based on this news. However, when I try to access the app, it says "We're sorry, but your device is not authorized to use this application". As far as I know, I have purchased the Z10 from an "authorised" source only.

There's a free 7-day trial for anyone who wants to take it for a spin.

Does it work worldwide. What is it based on. Google Maps?

Not GM. We use TomTom maps with our own, proprietary navigation sofware.

The maps are offline and stored on your phone, so you can navigate using only GPS.

I simply use the browser and go to http://maps.google.com/ . even better than the app for OS7.

The mobile website includes MyMaps, and Street View.
