IF your email service and method of integration support PUSH, then you can have faster delivery. But, if your email service does not support PUSH OR if you have defeated it in your settings, then it falls to the frequency you have configured, which can be no shorter than 15 minutes.
GMail supported EAS integration until recently, but has removed it (I think as part of their ongoing effort to stop supporting all things BlackBerry...but that is just IMHO). Those who integrated via EAS prior to the removal are allowed to continue using it, but those who integrate after the removal are relegated to POP or IMAP.
We are all hoping for improvements to these settings in future updates.
