BB Protect

My BB Curve 9300 was stolen not long ago. I bought a new Curve 9220 and restored all the data using BB Protect. The stolen device was immediately locked and wiped through BB Protect. Question: What can the thief do with the stolen phone? Is it still usable?

Re: BB Protect

Yes, it is still usable if the new user simply enters the security password ten times wrong, the device will wipe and reset to factory.

Re: BB Protect

Thx! Not actually what I wanted to hear! I would've liked a nuclear bomb exploiding taking all his criminal buddies with him!
Does the bb PIN stay unique with the device? Can that PIN be blocked to render the device useless? Or can anything else be done to make the device useless? Our local law enforcement is not up to the task and simply not worth the time, effort and frustration!

Re: BB Protect

Most of those questions are answered in the link I provided you.

Yes, the BlackBerry PIN is unique to the device and cannot be changed.

Re: BB Protect

Thx again, however I couldn't find any reply giving more information about the possibility of blocking the bb PIN in an effort to make the device useless.

Re: BB Protect

Oh, it's stated in the main initial post in that thread.

You can call your mobile provider to ask that the IMEI and PIN be blocked and listed as a stolen device. Not all carriers will provide that service, some will. You just need to ask.
