I have inherited my daughter 6month old blackberry bold 9790 phone. We had it unlocked from koodo and I have since put it on the Fido network. I called to have BBM service added however when I go to use it it says "Associating BBM with your Blackberry ID ". It seems to just keep trying to do this. My question is what do I need to do to get this to work. Could it be possible that the phone is locked in to my daughters BlackBerry ID? She cannot remember her ID or password.
. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you for your time.

Hi freedomgazer
Welcome to BlackBerry Support Forums
You can reset your BlackBerry ID password if your remeber the Username :
KB26361 :How to change or reset a BlackBerry ID password.
This newer version of BBM integrates with our BlackBerry ID, so if your daughter cannot remember her BlackBerry ID and also the password she has assigned then I think it will be better if you create a new BlackBerry ID of your own .So first do a backup of your device using BlackBerry desktop Software then follow this Knowledge Base :
KB26694 : How to change the BlackBerry ID on a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet or BlackBerry smartphone
Also Go through this Knowledge Base on how to create a new BlackBerry ID of your own :
KB24062 : How to Create a BlackBerry ID
Good luck.

Thank you for your answer, we did manage to get the password reset then tried again to use BBM, and it still says it is associating with blackberry ID? Not sure what to do now. Maybe call the carrier and see if they can help me. Unless you have an idea of what I can do now.

Hi freedomgazer
If you are still unable to get pass that screen " Associating with BlackBerry ID " then my advice Uninstall BBM7 for the time and install BBM6.2 ,
For that On your Homescreen Go to Options > Device Application Management > Locate and delete BlackBerry Messenger from there. After deleting do a Battery Pull Restart like this device POWERED ON remove the battery wait a min. then re-insert it back .
After reboot from your BlackBerry Browser browse to or Click here http://mobileapps.blackberry.com/devicesoftware/en
