BBM isn't working :(

Its my first blackberry and I was really looking forward to using BBM to talk to my friends, but every time I open the app it says"associating BBM with your BlackBerry ID"  for a little while and then an error message appears saying "A temporary BBM server error has occurred". I've left it for 8 hours to see if it was just 'temporary' but its still not opening

Hi benwell and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!

 

Did you subscribe to a BlackBerry data plan with your wireless provider? This is required to use BBM and to associate with your BlackBerry ID.
