It's not out of date as far as I'm concerned. Last I tried Overdrive, it didn't work.

I'd say try again, or call Overdrive or RIM for assistance. Works very well for me.

Overdrive, RIM, even this forum.. you can't get ahold of people or even get answers! I'm still waiting for a reply on my Q (different thread)
& FYI... RIM, rather Blackberry, directs you here. There is no other contact method.

Hey!
I have found a solution that will be able to read epub files like the kobo app.
Step1: You will need to learn to sideload Android apps to your BB Playbook
Tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHDrmAtaUY0
Step 2: Download this app: http://goodereader.com/apps/playbook/playbook-andr
Step 3: Sideload your app onto the BB Playbook
Step 4: Open up BB Desktop Manager and navagate to misc\ andrioid\
Step 5: Create a folder eBooks\import (as in create a folder eBooks and create another folder "import" inside)
Step 6: Drag your epub files into the "import" and your done
I hope you enjoy and if you have any questions just reply cause I'm a newbie on this site, so ya.

No idea how to sideload, but regarding reading e-pub as Kobo app does... far as I can tell, Kobo is only reading pdf files. I've yet to be able to get anything from Kobo that was e-pub or anything but .pdf. Took me a while using the app to realize that. So, it actually limits the books you can download. Didn't realize that right away, either.
Terribly disappointed in the Playbook in regards to that feature. Prior to purchase there were sites listing comparisons on tablets, & all of them listed the Playbook as capible of reading e-put & while this may be true... no one tells you that there is no way to tap into that capibility.
Disappointed in a few other things, as well. One of them being the lack of gift certificates available similar to itunes cards. It would be so much better for getting some of these small priced apps. Are we supposed to use a credit card to get an app for $1.99? That's nuts.

Kobo doesn't even allow you to find e-pub books on their site with the Playbook. & even if you could, you can't read e-pub from other sources using Kobo. So far, there is just no way to read an e-pub on this thing. & if you try.. make sure you're getting an actual e-pub book, & not a .pdf.

OK I'll try to figure that out in a few days. Have lots of people coming in 2 days, no time right now. & that's a lot of work when it should just be included on the playbook! lol
