I am a BlackBerry Storm 9530 user, and I have just recently upgraded my Facebook For BlackBerry app from version 1.8 to version 1.9.
I receive Facebook notifications in my BB's email. What I've just discovered is that if I delete a Facebook message notification from my BB they are deleted from my actual Facebook account's Messages as well! It didn't do this with version 1.8. I've already inadvertently deleted several messages from my Facebook account which I did not want deleted, not realizing that when I was deleting them from my BlackBerry's mail "inbox" that I was deleting them from my Facebook account as well. And I cannot find any option to change this. (When I delete emails from my BlackBerry it always asks me if I want to delete them on "mailbox and handheld" or only "on handheld." When deleting Facebook message notifications it doesn't give me this option).
If this can't be corrected, is there any way to remove version 1.9 and go back to version 1.8? I've been searching around for a place to get 1.8 and can't seem to find it anywhere....
Thanks.01-22-2011 08:20 AM
OMG!! It was like you were reading my mind when I read your post! I have the Bold 9700 BUT I have the same problem. I was very upset when I discovered that I had deleted several messages as well. Some contained information that I needed, it is a mess. I am on the same search as you are and if I find anything of use I will post back and share. ![]()
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply!
After a couple of weeks of fighting against change, I finally relented and just gave up. I went ahead and upgraded to the newer 5.0 Operating System platform and re-loaded the 1.9 Facebook for BB. I never could find anywhere to revert back to the 1.8 version. Anyway, I did this about a week ago and am still trying to work out the bugs & kinks as well as get used to all the changes. What a pain.
Now I just have to be extra cautious about what I delete out of my Inbox.

Really? You did all that and still nothing? Well, I do not think I would mind so much if I could at least save the FB messages that are on my BB but there is no option to do this. Today I received a few FB notifications but I am sure tomorrow will bring yet another batch of problems.
What I do not understand is why they keep changing the version? Is it to keep consistent with the Facebook changes? I actually deleted the 1.9 version, pulled the battery on my BB and then added the application back. I was desperate and all that was in vain.
Anyway, it is nice to know I am not alone with these frustations and lets hope for a resolution soon!
Take care ![]()

One point of clarification: Now that I have the new version of FB for BB, it actually handles the messages (and notifications) somewhat differently. It not only displays them in the Messages folder, but it also displays them within the Facebook app itself. It's slightly more handy, having them in the Facebook app, but the risk still exists that if you delete them from the Messages inbox they will be gone on Facebook itself, too.
While going through all of this upgrade-of-my-OS-and-re-do-everything-else process I did notice where they have a warning or disclaimer or something, telling users that their FB messages on their device are now tied together with the FB messages on FB itself, but that info was provided a little bit late, in my opinion. They definitely need to step up the game with regard to their customer communications!
Now, I have a whole new problem (which, while searching for a solution to my earlier problem, I'd seen many other users were having): Now, the messages and notifications that already existed prior to my upgrade seem to be "frozen" and CANNOT be deleted even if I WANTED to. Sigh. What a mess. I had seen some suggested solutions to this, back before it became a problem for me (back when I was searching for resolutions for my other issue). Now that this is happening to me as well, I don't have the energy to go back and look all over again.
I'm just going to ignore everything and leave it be as-is.

LOLOLOL!!! I am not laughing "at" you but your comment, "I don't have the energy to go back and look all over again". How true!
I feel the same way and just deal with the everyday problems as they come. I am extremely disappointed on the lack of communication from both BB and FB support. I have other things to focus my energy on and quite enjoy the smile and pick me up when I actually DO get a FB notification. Its the same slight excitement you get when your playing bingo and your number is called.
I could handle all the issues with the 1.9 version with the exception of the messages, I am still bitter over this because of the back peddling it has caused me to have to do.
Enjoy your week and lets hope for the best!

,I was having the same problem! I went to the Options tab in FB on BB and deselected the option to connect FB messages with my BB. Assuming FB will still email me when I get a new message. Even if it doesn't, it's much better than having them deleted or not showing up in FB online as soon as they're downloaded to my phone. Hope this helps!
