Ok folks got a reply from BlackBerry app support.
It basically states the problem is known, it is being worked on but no solution yet.
It suggests deleting and re-installing with the latest version of the app.
NOTE it also states: "If BlackBerry Appworld is still showing Facebook 188.8.131.52 as the Latest version of Facebook available for the device, follow KB24714 in order to clear the BlackBerry App World cache in order to downgrade."
Not a solution yet but at least an acknowledgement of the issue and a workaround.

please help i also upgraded my facebook and everytime i try to log in i encounter this error "you are currently on a service plan that does not support this application, please connect to a Wi-fi network......" but i am already connected and my browser is working....hope blackberry will do something about this....
