Update/clarification: It appears that the AT&T BlackBerry connection issue is in the wi-fi settings - it works over the 3G connection when away from the house but it doesn't work if it's connected via a wi-fi connection at home. I've not changed any of my wi-fi router's settings prior to having the issue.
