I purchased vlingo plus last week while the price was re...

I purchased vlingo plus last week while the price was reduced. It installed and it is just sitting there with the installing bar saying completing purchase. It will not let me do anything with it. Vlingo customer support said it was a RIM issue and to contact you. I need to know what to do. Thank you

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

Clearing the application cache may help:

1. Open App World

2. Go to My World

3a. For keyboard-based BB's -- Hold down the ALT key and then press, in sequence R, then S, then T

3b. For Storm/Pearl -- Hold the num-lock (!?123) button so it locks and then press, in sequence 3, then 4, then (

4a. If your BB locks after issuing the cache clear, perform a battery pull reboot

If that does not work, then please return to these forums (http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/) and register an account so that we can provide you with direct assistance.

Hopefully it'll work for you! Good luck and let us know!

I tried the suggestion.  It did clear the bar, but it also cleared vlingo plus.  I purchased this while it was on sale.  Did the purchase not go through?  I do not want to pay full price for the app when I purchased it at half price.  Thanks for any suggestions.

ok, I have found the app and it is downloaded.  when I bring it up, the screen says "no key or activation coed is required.  Simply speak to activate your purchase."  Also on the screen are the run and purchase buttons.  I have spoke several times holding the soft key, but it does not seem to be activating.  Any suggestions?

Re: I purchased vlingo plus last week while the price was re...

Hi there!

A while back, we received this information from VLingo support:

 Hello,

Thank you for contacting Vlingo.

To activate your Vlingo Plus purchase, simply speak once to Vlingo.  Hold the side key and speak ‘Send email’.  If you’re able to compose an email, then Vlingo Plus is active.  After you speak to Vlingo at least once, you should find that the 'Get Vlingo Plus' button no longer appears, which also indicates that you have Vlingo Plus.

If you purchased Vlingo
Plus from BlackBerry App World, you do NOT need a registration key
(even if App World suggests that you do).  You may have seen the
following message after Vlingo finished downloading to your phone:

"The license key for vlingo is as follows.  You may need this key when accessing the application for the first time.  Vlingo".

Again, this license key is an App World feature that Vlingo doesn't use.  You won't need the key, so just click 'OK'.

If this doesn't resolve the issue you're encountering, please reply to this email with additional detail about the problem.

Best regards,
Vlingo Support

Since I myself have never tried this app, I really have no direct experience to provide to you. There are many posts in these forums about issues with VLingo, but the above is what was received from their support folks.

Cheers!

Re: I purchased vlingo plus last week while the price was re...

I received a email from vlingo support with several steps to follow.  I followed all these  steps and the program still will not run.  It says installed, but when I click on it, it says run or purchase.  It also has a note that no key or activation code is required.  Simply speak to activate your purchase.  I have spoke to it several times and still nothing.  When I click on run, it is the original Vlingo. What should i do now?  Here is the suggestions i followed:

The BlackBerry is surprisingly complex, and there are several things that can affect its network capability. Try each of the suggestions below, in sequence. Try speaking to Vlingo after each one to see if it resolved the problem.

Run the Vlingo connection test
Check your firewall
Check streaming
Reboot your BlackBerry
Check your connection type
Resend your Service Books
Enter an APN
Run the Vlingo connection test

Go to Vlingo Options, scroll all the way down to the Network section, and click Run Test. Vlingo will search for the most reliable and best performing mobile network available.

Check your firewall

The BlackBerry firewall sometimes stops allowing connections and you need to reset it, as follows:

Open BlackBerry Options.
Select Security Options.
Select Firewall.
Press the Menu key and select Reset Settings from the displayed menu.
Close BlackBerry Options.
This reset can take a few minutes to complete, and may appear to freeze the phone while it's running. Please be patient.

Streaming

Vlingo uses streaming to significantly speed up network transmissions and response time. Try turning streaming off. To do this, go to Vlingo Help and type 'ML' (without the quotes). Then click Turn Audio Streaming Off.

At this point you should test Vlingo by speaking to it. If this hasn't resolved the problem, turn streaming back on again to optimize performance once we do get you back up and running.

Reboot your Blackberry

Occasionally, BlackBerry connections seem to degrade over time. If nothing has solved the problem up to this point, reboot the phone by pulling the battery. This is very likely to correct the problem.

Check your connection type

In Vlingo Options, scroll all the way down to the Network section. Try each of the available settings next to Connection Type (click Menu->Save before testing new settings).

Resend your service books

Open the BlackBerry Options.
Select Advanced Options.
Select Host Routing Table
Press the Menu key and select Register Now from the displayed menu.
Close BlackBerry Options.
In a few minutes, you should receive an email from BlackBerry informing you that your BlackBerry was registered with the wireless network. Your BlackBerry Internet Service should now be properly configured.

Enter an APN

If you have a GSM phone and you're not on a major North American or U.K.-based carrier, you may need to configure an APN.

First you will need to determine which technology your phone uses:

Click Options from the BlackBerry Home screen
Click About.
At the top of the screen, you should see two lines of text describing your BlackBerry. This should include either (CDMA) or (GSM).
Exit back to your BlackBerry's Home screen.
If you have a GSM phone, you need to know what your APN and associated user name and password should be. Your carrier is the best source for this information, but there are various other sources that have compiled lists of settings for a variety of carriers. Here is one site that we have found useful for this issue:

http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com/360-tcp_apn_wap_gateway_port.html

To check and change your settings:

Click Options from the BlackBerry Home screen.
Choose Advanced Options.
Choose TCP.
Set your APN as required.
If required by your carrier, enter the APN username and password in the Username for APN and Password for APN fields.
Save and exit.

Finally, if these suggestions do not work for you, please reply to this email and we will take it from there.
