I am sorry, I re-read your messages and nothing says you specifically want a GTalk client.

maybe the best for you is to try them all, or ask the support of each app first.

That's why I posted in the first place.

 

I've tried imo.im and IM+ as well as the native apps and have had no luck

IM+ Pro seems to work for me rather well over Wi-Fi right now.

After trying IM+, Nimbuzz, etc. with no luck on my Bold 9000 OS5, without BES or BIS, finaly I find Viber. It's ok with WiFi and/or plain APN. It is a device to device only messenger.
