Issue with BBM for adding a new contact

I just have bought a BlackBerry to a relative especially to be able to use BBM with him , knowing that he will soon be in a foreign country ;

The problem is that I can not add him to my contacts : scanning the barcode do not work , as for typing the PIN or a text . I even tried sending him an E-Mail . He , as well , can not add me , and none of the latter ways work neither . 

I downloaded the latest updates , and tried to rebooted our devices several time , but it was useless ...

 

Any idea of what might be the problem ?

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?

You must, in order to get the BBMessenger and other functions to work.


So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.

Thank you for the idea, but we both do have a BlackBerry Data Plan , provides by our carrier ..So the problem isn't because of that ...

Try this,

  • BOTH of you remove each other as a BBM contact, any pending contact. Delete it.
  • Both of you Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
  • Now, ONE of you add the other back as a BBM contact, using the other's PIN (not email).

Unfortunately , it's still not working ... 

I think the issue comes from his BBM , because mine works perfectly fine : I can add any contact I want to , except him.

So I wonder if I should remove BBM from his device , and re-install it after ... ? What do you think about it ?
