New BBM 7 Update Now Available: Get Talking with BBM Voice

Here are some other great features you’ll love in BBM 7:

• BBM Voice – Connect with and call BBM contacts while on a WiFi connected device.

• BBM upgrade notifications – BBM will notify you when there are updates to download straight from within the app
• BBID Synchronization – your BBM profile, Groups and Contacts are linked to your BlackBerry ID

You should find the upgrade waiting for you today in AppWorld > MyWorld > Upgrades. If not, be patient, the upgrade can take up to 24 hours to arrive in some areas. You can also click on the Menu key > Refresh List in MyWorld Upgrades.

I've just received a notification to upgrade BBM from 6.2.0.44 to 7.0.0.126. My device is a Torch 9800/6.0.0.246 (bundle 695). Is it safe to do the uograde on this device? I wouldn't want what happened with the AppWorld upgrade recently, repeat itself. Can I safely upgrade BBM to 7.*, or should I ignore the notification?

Hi Mothaw, It should be safe, mainly because BBM 7 was designed for OS 6 and higher. If not you can always restore it. (Make sure you make a back up first with BlackBerry Protect if your not sure it's safe.)

You Have 2 options: 1, backup on BlackBerry Desktop Software or 2, Don't backup.

Connor, relating to previous comments, the result is that BBM7 works perfectly on my device. It's just the WiFi icon that is annoying, as I'm on a data plan, but I guess I'll get used to it. Thanks again. Wayne
