Overdrive app

Hi:  I bought my playbook so that I could download books from the library.  The overdrive app is available on the rim phones, why not the tablet?  Will it be available soon for the tablet?  I tried emailing and phoning the company to find out, but tech support said they don't know and the company won't forward my question to right department.  Any help would be appreciated, I am beginning to think I should have purchases an android!!

Thanks

Re: Overdrive app

It's unlikely you'll get confirmation about anything prior to it actually just showing up.

Nevertheless, the 2.0 update will contain new features related to DRM (Digital Rights Management), the lack of which (many of us feel) is one reason the existing PlayBook OS hasn't seen things like Netflix or Overdrive. I expect that with this feature added we'll start to see a number of such apps show up.

That said, it isn't RIM who would be writing that app, is it? Why not contact the vendor who would actually be the one to build it?

Re: Overdrive app

I have tried looking into the overdrive site and can't find a place to send an email to.

Re: Overdrive app

Maybe you'll find something through here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OverDrive,_Inc.

In any case, RIM's not the company to ask. They may know something, but they never share that kind of info in advance.

Re: Overdrive app

Thanks, I tried emailing as a retailer, could not find a category for an individual.  Hope that gets to them, and they can give me any kind of an answer!!

Re: Overdrive app

Overdrive is aval on playbook but you must add adobe id to it to work
swipe from top to get settings
then under eBook Options you must Authorize the device with a Adobe ID which is free at Adobe. Once this is installed it will work. This ID keeps track of the number of days you have the book on loan
