Receiving pin messages but not BBM

Hi I have a blackberry 9800, o/s v6.0.0.2.4.6. My carrier is Rogers in Canada. I can send and receive PIN messages to a contact but when I send him a message by BBM it says "d" on mend but he does not receive it. He was recently in Istanbul. I was able to send him BBM messages no problem. Now he is back in Canada and can't receive bbm messages from me. I appreciate any suggestions. It's driving me crazy!

Before he was in Istanbul, was he able to receive your BBM messages?

We have also deleted and re-invited to bbm

Can you receive BBM messages from him, and its only that he doesn't receive messages from you?
