overall i think i like the multi tasking and the functionality better then ipad, the only negative i see is the lack of apps.
if they get that under control quick i think its the best device out.

Agreed. No Skype is bordering on a deal breaker...

You must turn the device on to charge it.

yes, and the unit went back to Sears yesterday. Simply wouldnt accept a charge and eventually wouldn't turn on (just a red light blinking twice). No amount of forced reboot etc. and various charging combinations). i accepted a new one and totally smoother. Screen taps better (much better) and the on/off button sits a little proud (last one it was flush). I am convinced the last one was a pre-production model. FWIW its s/n was 1343 2408 8753 (in case a rimmer wants to check this out). Now waiting for the promised Skype. Girlfriend got one also. Her bridge to her BB has stopped functioning. Her BB dnow oesn't recognise the bar code when scanning. My BB is also defunct as it has a software pre v5 (corporate so no updates). So I am screwed :-)

I sent a message to Skype customer support asking about Playbook version. Got an answer back within an hour:
"Thank you for contacting Skype Customer Service.
We understand your concern regarding having Skype for the Rim Playbook. We will be glad to assist you with this.
We can see how this can be helpful.
Unfortunately for now Skype does not have an application version that can be supported by the Rim Playbook.
For now Skype's development team is currently doing updates as well as upgrades that several devices will be able to support the Skype application in future releases, including your Rim Playbook."
Looks like they're working on it.
Everybody who wants it should write to them. Maybe they'll hurry up...
