Re: Skype?

Probably... oops:Oops:. I thought I was posting the CrackBerry.com forum. Tons of Apple trolls there.

Re: Skype?

With the OS2, I have a blackberry and will purchase a tablet if Blackberry curve supports at a minimum:

1. Skype

2. Netflix and other providers

3. MS Office

4. Divx

5. Many applications hopefully Android apps.

If not, I will have to look somewhere else. I am willing to wait for couple of week for some indications, otherwise I am done. Blackberry will have to collect dust on the shelves just like OS1. It is a shame.

Re: Skype?

Well 3, 4 and 5 can be said to be covered.

The Playbook DOES deal with all MS Office documents (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) with Docs-To-Go.

The Playbook DOES read Divx movies (just re-tried and confirmed that)

The Playbook HAS had "many" more applications since the move to OS2.0

As for Skype, we'll have to wait and see. It would be good if Skype made it's service available on the Playbook (it could also be pointed out that even Microsoft doesn't have Skype on it's Windows Phone service at this point, and they own Skype), it would make a lot of people happy, but it is their business decision and we'll have to wait and see about that.

You could always use a service like IM+ which allows for access to Skype contacts throught the Playbook (just no video calling)

Concerning Netflix, it's a crappy service which is over-rated and expensive for what they provide. If it is a must have for yourself, I'd suggest either using another means to access it or changing your tablet.

Si.

Re: Skype?

Absolutely. Not having Skype is a deal-breaker, I just don't understand how RIM does not get this.
