When will Livestrong be (once again) available for the Tour?

Hi,

 

I purchased and installed Livestrong on my Tour in July or Aug 2009. I got a replacement Tour a few weeks ago, and I now cannot download Livestrong via app world because the application is now "not available for this device".

 

When will it be available again for the Tour?

 

In the meantime, why can't I download the previous version that I was using? I know that there were some glitches, but they were easy enough to work around, and I am really missing this app!

Hi there!

To re-install your apps, please follow this section of the AppWorld user guide:


For more registration key information, see this KB:

 

In some cases, it has been discovered that updates (from AppWorld obtained apps) require additional steps in order to install the update. If the update will not install, please attempt this:

  1. Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Applications > highlight the app > BBKey > Delete
  2. AppWorld > MyWorld > Login > highlight the app (if it shows at all, in any state) > BBKey > Delete
  3. Use either your PC (via Mass Storage Mode) or your BB (via Media > BBKey > Explore) and find any references (folders, files) to the app. Delete whatever you find. Search both your Device Memory as well as your Media Card.
  4. Use the above AppWorld user guide link to re-install the app -- a new registration/activation key should then be provided

 

If that does not work, then please return to these forums (http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/) and register an account so that we can provide you with direct assistance.

Please see the above screen shot. I didn't have a problem switching the device in app world. The problem is that Livestring is now "Unavailable for this device" (whereas when I initially purchased it, it obviously was available).

 

So again, when will it be available again for the Tour?

Yes, I understand. The "additional steps" are intended to cleanse out a prior install and force AppWorld to allow it to again install.

 


You also might try clearing the application cache:

1. Open App World

2. Go to My World

3a. For keyboard-based BB's -- Hold down the ALT key and then press, in sequence R, then S, then T

3b. For Storm/Pearl -- Hold the num-lock (!?123) button so it locks and then press, in sequence 3, then 4, then (

4a. If your BB locks after issuing the cache clear, perform a battery pull reboot


As to "when will it be available" -- sorry, but, there is no authoritative forward-looking information available in these user-to-user forums.

Re 1: Livestrong could not be found on my phone (makes sense, since it's a new phone and I haven't been able to download it yet.

 

Re 2: There is no option to delete Livestrong in my MyWorld (whereas there is the delete option for the other apps that have been installed).

 

Re 3: I don't think I need to bother with that step. It's a new Tour and I haven't been able to download Livestrong on it yet. So I won't find anything related.

 

Re 4: N/A.

I did this. It exited me from BB appworld. When I went back in, Livestrong was no longer listed in My World. Also, it is not listed at all when I search for the app. I assume that I only see apps that are available for the Tour, and that Livestrong has been removed from the list.

Do you know whom I should contact to find out when Livestrong will again be available?

 

Also, how would I go about requesting a refund for the app?

The app developer would be the place to contact for their intended status. AppWorld is just a shopping mall, selling things developed by others.

 


You are correct that the on-device AppWorld only shows apps that are applicable to you (as certified by the app developer).

 


Refund requests need to be sent exactly as follows. Go to this URL:


and fill out the form. Use, in the "Please select a component:" field, the AppWorld Billing/Payment selection. Any other selection will simply route you back anonymously to these public forums.

If the form responds with Invalid PIN, please come back here and post that fact...there is a separate resolution path for that issue.

Ok, not exactly the answers I was hoping for, but thank you for your timely responses!

 

Btw, I am trying out another calorie counter program that I just found on appworld called "Calorie Counter by FacSecret". My first impression is that I like it a lot, so this might be the silver lining to it all :smileyhappy:
