There are times when I go to my blackberry messaging contacts to open a message and the phone will not allow me to open my chats. Why is that?

Hello,

I think you can try two things : the soft reboot, and if it does not work, the hard reboot. Don't worry, you can't lose data with these two reboots.

Soft reboot :
1) Hit the three following keys at the same time :
- Alt
- Right Shift
- Delete
2) wait 2 minutes for the Blackberry to wake up.


Hard reboot :
1) your Blackberry device is on
2) remove the battery and wait for a minute
3) Put the battery back
4) wait 5 minutes for the device to wake up.

Hey,

I know that this was posted awhile ago, but I figured that I would post my response for others who may be having this problem, as I was last night.

I had closed out all my open chat conversations with all of my friends, thinking a little housekeeping was needed. However, I couldn't respond to any new bbm messages, but I could see them. It wouldn't let me open up new chats either.

I did a restart, but that didn't work. It's best to turn it off, and take the battery out for a few seconds, then it did end up working! So hopefully this isn't the start to maintenace issues with my Blackberry, I got it about 2 weeks ago!
