"copy" bbm chat gives message of truncated text. How can I retrieve the whole content of the chat?

The bbm chat is very long and when i choose to copy it, it copies to clipboard. Then when I try to paste into a new email to send and later save on a pc, it says "field full" or "some text was truncated" and the full chat is not placed in the email. I guess the restriction is in the email body. Can I save to a file somehow and retrieve  from internal memory of my BB?

Yes, you can (in your BBM options) save the chat history to your media card.

You can also choose the BBM chat, and send to > email and it should copy all of the present chat.
