Sorry for the delay...I've been away on extended holiday.
Please refer to our MAC forum...doing things via MAC is completely different from PC, and the utilities available to help situations on PC are just not available for MAC. Please seek help here:

Hi again...sorry for the delay, I've been away on extended holiday.
To install the Desktop Software, there is no password required. But, if your BB has a device lock password configured, then you need to use that same password when prompted on your PC each time you connect your BB to your PC and launch the Desktop Software.

From what I can tell, all you need to know is already within this thread...please scroll up and read. Pay special attention to the Safe Mode post as, if it can work, that may be your only hope to conduct the backup you now require.
