1. On your homescreen, press the Menu key > SHOW ALL, so that SHOW ALL is checked.
2. Look in EACH folder on your device... Applications, Instant Messengers, Downloads, etc.

Hi again, thanks for the reply, i have looked in every folder on the phone, it is just not there....... is there anyway of rolling back the software update to whichever version i had before? or a reset of the handset to put it back to what it came out of the box with? thanks

Read this RIM Knowledge Base article to reset your device to the factory settings.
KB18998 How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone to factory defaults
BEFORE you do that, make a backup of your BlackBerry to your PC, because you will lose ALL personal data, contacts, messages, etc.
**I do NOT recommend you doing this, just to fix BBM or find the icon.
**I DO recommend you keep looking.
TRY THIS >>> On the home screen of your BlackBerry, press the menu key about two seconds, and the App Switcher ribbon will popup. Do you see the BBM icon there along with the icons for messages, homescreen, phone, and browser?

You don't need an older version, this version works.
Just delete it form your application list.
reboot
reinstall it from your browser at www.blackberry.com/bbm

I have a blackberry curve 8520 with OS5 and by mistake I downloaded BBM 7 on my phone. Since this software isn't compatible with BBM 7 I have lost the BBM icon and I'm guessing all the contacts as well. I deleted BBM from the application list and tried to download BBM form the browser but it only gives a link to BBM 7 and not 6. I don't know what to do.
