new phone freezes with apps and running out of memory quickly

Hi there,

I just recently purchased the Storm and added a few applications (facebook, twitterberry, myspace, slackeradio, and AIM) but my phone is running sooo slow and freezes.  When i checked the application memory, i have pretty much none left.  I stil have a lot of free space in the device memory and media card.  Am I allowed just that little amount of applications on this phone? Or am I doing something wrong?

Please help because I can't find the solution to this anywhere.

Thank you in advance.

Re: new phone freezes with apps and running out of memory quickly

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

On the Storm board in this forum, there are many many discussions about this topic. Please go over there:

and try doing a search on Memory or some other search strings.

The basic answer is that, yes, all BB's have a fixed and protected amount of memory available for the installation of applications. Plus, as a computing device, they also suffer from memory leaks. Here is a very abberviated set of things for you to do -- you will find much more complete information over in the Storm forum.

Anytime random strange behaviors creep in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Always close applications fully. The red and the back keys do not do that. Click the BBKey and select "Close" or "Exit" to fully close apps.

Hopefully this will get you going.
