ssh on playbook

Is there a way to use an ssh client on a playbook?

What I need is a client which :

1) allows me to run ssh-agent so I can load ssh keys

2) allows me to ssh to hosts with both agent and X11 forwarding.turned on

Do these apps exist on a playbook? Does a terminal application exist which would allow me to do these things from a QNX shell on a playbook?

There are apps for my phone (storm2), and they can use ssh-keys for a login, but none seem to have agent or X11 forwarding.

Thanks.

Re: ssh on playbook

No, there is no software for this yet.  I intend to develop it once certain tools become available to deveopers.

Try out BBSSH, a free Blackberry SSH client.

This comment worries me.  I would very much like to see an SSH client for the Playbook and here we have a developer who wants to develop one.  Why aren't all the tools that developers need to develop apps available yet?  It's no wonder we're not seeing many useful apps for the Playbook.

Re: ssh on playbook

I suspect you'll see a lot more apps to do this sort of thing once the Java and native sdks are released as I can't see many developers wanting to write this sort of thing in air when they know more powerful portable solutions are coming soon.

Re: ssh on playbook

As a business tool, the Blackberry Playbook is completely useless without something as basic as an SSH client. Do you know how many enterprise professionals have a need for SSH in a tablet? It can do email and browse the web ... but compared to other tablets it is a toy without such functionality. Seriously an entire industry cannot use this tablet for work because apps do not exist.

Re: ssh on playbook

Actually ... forget Blackberry. I just found out that the HP tablet can already do ssh. So as a tool for admins it is already usable where the Playbook is just a toy. I am yet another person to completely ditch RIM. So long suckers.

Re: ssh on playbook

Released December! It's amazing something so basic and necessary wasn't already there. No apps is a huge negative for blackberry. It makes it useless as a modern work tool. Now a days we need a lot more than email. Thanks anyway, but I've completely written Blackberry off the list of useful devices.

Re: ssh on playbook

I think it should standard. Ssh, sftp, etc. should be build in! Also , connection to file server should be in the OS too! It's the kind of feature I want . The playbook is a toy or not. If not focus on these kind of feature and let the 3rd parties the sexy app / games
