I have a similar problem, though slightly different:

When I first installed the app, I could do it only when the device was connected to WIFI.

Now, Internet works perfectly well with 3G. However, I can't send or recieve messages on WhatsApp unless I've connected to WIFI (on another smartphone, I should mention).

I looked at WhatsApp site and nothing they suggested worked. Contacting my mobile provider, Pelephone, didn't help much either.

 

I saw the beta version here and wondered if it can fix the problem. If not, what else can I do?
