blackberry I'd installation failed. please try again later (80002)

Hello.... I am using blackberry torch 9800. Yesterday I updated blackberry appworld to its latest version and from that time onwards the apoworld has stopped working. Whenever I open this it shows "appworld requires the latest version of blackberry I'd" .as I click update , "sorry software update server is unavailable, please try again" and then shows two buttons one is close and second is retry . When I click retry, nothing happens but when I click close, it shows "blackberry I'd installation failed . Please try again later . (80002). please tell me how to solve this problem ...

Go to the Blackberry ID site   http://us.blackberry.com/bbid.html

On the right side of the page you will see the login and create an account prompts. See if you can log in.

I believe some time ago the password policy was changed where a sort of complicated passord is required. An example would be  Mynamez7  for a password that is considered complicated. If I remember right they want a minimum of 8 characters with at least one capital letter and one number.  I had this issue with a 9900 and a 9800. I had to change the password to one that uses the same type of format as what I indicated. The email adddress wich is the name of the account must also be valid.

There are also these:

  • KB29613 The error "BlackBerry Identity installation failed. Please try again later. (80003)" is displayed within BlackBerry App World
  • KB29501 "Error installing BlackBerry Identity, please try again later" when trying to install an update for BlackBerry Identity in BlackBerry App World.

While not perhaps exact, they may be close enough, and therefore may apply.

Also, while I'm not finding the KB, I recall one where the fix was to remove the actual ID app from the BB:

  • KB10040 How to view or remove installed applications on a BlackBerry smartphone

Then reboot the BB and start over, which should install a fresh copy of the ID app, allowing you to finally continue.

Good luck!

Hello aounnilawer -- I can only assume you wish to contribute to this thread, but both of your posts so far contain no content whatsoever, only the subject line displays. Please try again.
