Error connecting phone to account.

Here are my steps.

  1.  the Microsoft 365 account is active and working
  2. Logged into admin account of Microsoft 365
  3. Logged into Blackberry Administration Service
  4. connect blackberry model 9870 with version 6 software build 1879 carrier is T-mobile with BlackBerry Internet Service data plan
  5. Click Manage current device
  6. Search for the user
  7. Select the user
  8. Click assign device
  9. AND I get this message "The BlackBerry Administration Service was unable to retrieve specific device attributes from the device that is connected to your computer."

I cannot get it to attach.  Do they need BlackBerry® Enterprise Server data plan ... I read

Article ID: KB28383

It says they do not.

Any ideas

I'm trying to learn about this subject as well. Could you be specific on how you were connected? I'm referring to the note at the top of KB28383

  • "BlackBerry smartphones that have only a BlackBerry Internet Service data plan must use a Wired activation type, unless the Enterprise Activation application for BlackBerry® smartphones from BlackBerry® AppWorld available here is used."

Thanks,
