I ve seen some other threads on the internet and on these forums about how to fix them but not really what causes them.  

playing them is easy.. VLC player and drop'em in or just drop the .lock and bam you have video.. but my question is what causes the 3gp video file to have the .lock appended to the file.

I dont have a blackberry to try and reproduce this effect I just have a SDcard with some .3GP.LOCK files and need to know what appends the .lock portion

I have two that were caused by the battery going dead, or dying that is (kinda spontaneously and nowhere near the bottom of the power bar) but I tried already that "delete the .lock" thing and get a WMV notice that it can't be played, I tried web help but so far don't see an answer...with corrupted DV files there's repair apps out there, wondering if that might do the trick; or even if DIVfix, which I use for that, would work on a 3gp file?
