BB Id password

My BB bold 9900 keeps asking me to login to BB id because there is a new sim card inserted. But thats not the case. My phone went out of battery and when I charged it again it asked me this question. Now I'm at my last attempt and I'm 100% sure that I gave the correct password the last 9 times.. I even logged in to BB Id site with that password. But if I screw it up this time everything will be deleted from my phone. Anyone got a solution?

Please use plain text.

Re: BB Id password

Hello...and apologies for the delay in reply!

The password prompted for by the web interface and that you need to enter to the BB interface are indeed the same password. But, what I suspect is that you've got a mixture of different characters in your password, and perhaps have not noticed how you must enter those on the BB keyboard. For instance, if your password is

  • ab123

and you enter

  • a > b > ALT > 1 > 2 > 3

the actual result will be

  • ab1er

You must enter

  • a > b > ALT > 1 > ALT > 2 > ALT > 3

in order to wind up with ab123. So, in this example, while on the BB keyboard you think you are typing ab123, you are actually typing ab1er.

On your BB, when you type the password, you should get just a moment where each character is shown in the clear before it changes to an *. (You also should have a "show password" checkbox to use.) Watch closely the next time and you may see a surprising result.

Lastly...failing this password should not wipe out the data on your BB...the device lock password will do that, but as far as I understand if you fail the BB ID authentication, all that happens is a lockout:

Good luck!
