As " frfghtr" said: Call Log => Application(MENU) Key => Options => Smart Dialing=>Reset to DEFAULT

This was the correct solution.  Go into Smart Dialing and choose the +44 option.

The correct solution was to go into Smart Dialing as described elsewhere in this thread and then choose the +44 option.

Click Options >  Security Options >   General Settings >   Include Address Book(Should be set to no)
