My wife noticed that emails sent to her work address via my phone (Torch 9800) show a GMT time stamp. For example I sent her an email from a university account (a rebadged Gmail account) at 4:31 EST. And on her end it shows up as 9:31 GMT. This does not happen if I send the email via my desktop. Any ideas?

What are the time settings on your 9800? Are they set correct for EST?
Has this always happened with your mail, or something you've just noticed today?
Can you look at your email server, the university account, and see what time settings it has?

J, my phone shows Eastern Time (-5)
(GMT-5)
And it must be an quirk on my wife's business network end of things. But it is odd as it shows GMT (on her end) for email sent via my BB but not for emails sent otherwise i.e. a desktop (same email account).
I guess I will need to do more testing to see how widespread it is.

Yea, an odd one at that.
What do people other than your wife see?

Well all I can tell you is if I send an email from my BB to my own email addresses all seems fine. I will have to do some more checking. Thanks for the replies J.

To more fully check this situation I sent 3 emails using my Torch to my wife's work address:
All three showed up with GMT time stamps on her end.
I had someone else send an email via their BB to the same work address and it shows up correctly as EST on her end
.
(I sent an email to his BB from mine and it showed up fine as an EST stamp)
(Btw, both BB have the same service provider).
I am at a loss.

I'm baffled too, there seems to be no real true common denominator, although your device is the most common.
I assume your BlackBerry time is set correctly for your EST timezone?
Why not change it, and then change it back.
Options > Date/time, change yours to something like Pacific time, AND then, do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescirbed for most gltiches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.
Now, send your wife again several test emails, using the central time setting. See what she receives.
Either way, change back to EST when you are ready.
Maybe that will make something "click" in the setup.

is your wife's BlackBerry device ruled by a corporate IT ? Here are two articles from the public knowledge base:
they are not directly related to your issue, but both related to BES.
