Makes sense. Oh well, no big deal. I just couldn't figure out how some people automatically had their PIN as the contact info on my messenger contact list.

According to my carrier, PIN to PIN messaging is not free.  It is part of your data plan.  I think it may depend on your carrier.  It is not even possible to message a PIN without a data plan with your carrier, even though it does go directly through the RIM infrastructure which is separate from your carrier's wireless network.

 

Blackberry Messenger has absolutely nothing to do with SMS (Text messaging), technically or in regards to billing.

Thanks for the info. What carrier do you have? Either way, doesn't matter that much to me. My plan allows me more texts than I typically use anyway.
