Reconcile E-mail with Google

Hi everyone,

I just got a Tour 9630, and I am brand new to the world of BB.  I am pretty happy with it, but I when pushing my e-mail from Gmail to the BB, I noticed that some emails that are read over the computer take awhile to be marked as unread on the BB.   Others are not marked at all as "read".

I've followed the instructions to properly reconcile my email (posted here) on the BB.  However, when I reach the second half of the instructions, and log into the BlackBerry Internet Service online, I get this message:

Cannot create account:

This action cannot be performed using a browser on a computer. Use the email setup application on your BlackBerry® smartphone to create an account.

Is there a reason why this is happening?  This BB used to belong to my cousin--do you think it has anything to do with that?

Thanks in advance!

Katie

Re: Reconcile E-mail with Google

Your cousin needs to remove the Blackberry PIN from his Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) account. It's a web interface where you can manage email accounts associated with your Blackberry. Each carrier has their own BIS site so you may need to look it up.

Re: Reconcile E-mail with Google

Hello,

To add to the above information, I advise you review this KB:

  • KB05099 Steps to take before selling or after buying a previously owned BlackBerry smartphone

Treat this BB as one that is being "sold" to you. The "seller" (your cousin) must complete all of their steps before the "buyer" (you) attempt to perform your steps.

Good luck!
