Go into messaging, then open the menu and press Options. Go to General Options then where it says SMS and Email Inboxes change it to Separate.

All i have listed are:
Display Time
Display Name
Confirm Delete
Hide Field Messages
Hide Sent Messages
Make PIN messages Level !
Auto More
keep Messages

On my Curve it says SMS and Email Inboxes right under Keep Messages.
What OS are you using (Find this by going into settings then About)
And What Blackberry are you using?

If you upgrade to 4.2 for the 8700c, you will have the option to do this.

Hi,
No, you'll need to upgrade the OS to get thjat menu option.
Some themes may hide various items, or re-arrange them, whilst others will show them.
Upgrading the OS is the only way to get this option.

Clarification:
By upgrading device software I meant updating device OS or firmware.
