I have recently bought a new blackberry 8100. This is my first blackberry so I am not really used to this phone. Can somebody pls guide me on how to make the configuration setting son the blackberry so that whenever an SMS arrives on the phone, the screen glows.

Presently whenever a sms come all I get is a tone and a viberation alert.

Blackberry device gives a tone (or vibrate if set) while receives an SMS. There is no such option to make the screen Glow for SMS text. This is save across all the BlackBerry device (or all the OS versions) available in the market.

Install BBLight to your BlackBerry. It has an option to light up the screen when a SMS/email arrives.

This is a .jad file can u pls send me the software in the format that can be understood by the BB application loader software. I shall be highly obliged.

I dont have OTA facility, can u pls help I will have to do it through desktop software

Just type the link on your browser and pres enter. You'll get the software Over the Air (OTA) in your device. As per  d_fisher link is -
