Is it asking for a security password at initial boot-up of the BlackBerry?

In the US, a Verizon branded BlackBerry will work only on the Verizon network. Not TMO, ATT or Sprint.

I have been trying to move my Verizon phone here in the US to US TMobile

I have a Tour 9630

In checking my phone - the MEPD SIM card secret screen says:

SIM Card:  Security Disabled

Personalization:

SIM                         Disabled

Network                 Active

Network subset   Disabled

Service Provider  Disabled

Corporate             Disabled

So, this says that my phone is unlocked, except with regards to the network it will run on, correct? (Which is what you were saying above?)  Is this something Verizon can change, and is this the same as getting an MEPD unlock code?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Unlocking your BlackBerry Guide

jw2k_fr, save yourself A GREAT deal of heartache.

Don't even try it. The 9630 will not work on Tmobile.
That's why I wrote what I did in the earlier post.

I had a BlackBerry 9530 Storm working on ATT for a while... it was a challenge each day.

Re: Unlocking your BlackBerry Guide

Hi there,

I've just won a 9720 in work which seems to be locked to a network. I've got no idea which one, only that it won't work with my current Orange (UK) SIM. It's brand new in the box, totally unbranded with any network at all.

Is there any way I can get it to work with this or any other network?

Thanks very much.

Re: Unlocking your BlackBerry Guide

When you turn it on, do you a network logo on the screen... watch closely because it may not stay up long.

Re: Unlocking your BlackBerry Guide

Wow! Thanks for the quick reply.

No, I don't get any indication of network name or logo. I can use the wifi function no problem, but through that it won't active BBM as well.

Urgh.

Great gift - pain to set up! :smileyhappy:

Thanks.

Re: Unlocking your BlackBerry Guide

You did read the initial post in this thread which directs you specfically to see IF the device is indeed locked to one network?
