Re: Vlingo??

[ Edited ]

Hi Lady Luck,

I have used Vlingo for at least 8 months, best voice recognition software I have used.

I just upgraded to Vlingo and had to reinstall, however my dictionary was intact and

it did upgrade my device. I upgraded on 4.3 and got the same warning 4.5 message

but it worked fine. You should be good to go!!

If you have enough info, would you mind taking a minute and close the thread?

Thanks

Re: Vlingo??

Hi Bifocals,

Not sure if you were responding to me or Lady Luck.  However, for the 8 months that you have been using it, was your "device" part of a BES?

to answer jlshannon

I have been using vlingo for a number of months, and have reffered a large number of my customers to use vlingo aswell.  I am not completely sure as to why, however, none of my customers using B.E.S. have ever been able to download vlingo.  first I was sure that it was just a particular model, because all of my problems seemed to be with the 8830 world, however I have tried on 4 different models of blackberry now, with the same results.  It works on nearly all devices on BIS, but does not work on BES.  Sorry to be the one to relay that information, but now you can rest on the fact that you didnt do anything wrong... :smileywink:

Re: Vlingo??

hello,

I went to the VLingo website and wanted to download it fora Storm. but on the website they say VLingo is available for OS up to 4.6 (Bold and Pearl Flip), meaning it is not available for Storm. Am I missing something ?

Re: to answer jlshannon

Hi ahager,

Your post is interesting. Could you explain why it doesn't work on all BES devices?

I can understand devices that have IT policies regarding installing apps or internet

restrictions. How about one with no restrictions?

Thanks,

Re: to answer jlshannon

I guesse Im not 100% sure.  I never had dealt with Blackberry until after I came to work at U.S. Cellular, so I am not sure about B.E.S. servers with outher carriers.  I know that we have some restrictions on our servers, but I am not sure as to what all they are, so it could very well be an IT policy on our side I suppose.  Your question made me think, so I have put in a ticket to find out a little bit more about the situation.  I will let you know my findings!

Re: to Bifocals

I got a response back from my Specialist Leader and found that for some reason, programs like this one are blocked by an IT policy on our servers.  Theoretically, on an open BES it would work just as well as it does on BIS.  Our serves is fairly strict, and as such, I would think that some others may be aswell, so that would explain why some of us are unable to access programs like this while others can.  I hope this helps some...
