ok, i know that alot of people have blackberry smartphones and love them. i am not one of these people, i have had nothing but problems with this thing i am ready to pitch it. 1. desktop media manager will not recognize the b.b. even though my computer does. 2. music, some go to music file, others goto video file???????? how does music end up in video???? 3. tried just putting videos of every format onto the memory card the play screen comes up, flashing the word loading and the play/pause icon flashes play-pause continuously. am i the proud new owner of the worst phone ever created, a victim of a cruel joke, or am i just too used to my psp? 10.5 hours talking to 4 tech support people, 4 trips back to the store, and even exchanged for another phone, and all i get is a "i dont know". can anyone help me?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums...
Many issues...let's try to deal with them one at a a time:

I'm a little unclear...does the RIM desktop software recognize your BB. And then Media Manager does not? Or is there some other place in your computer that you are seeing that it is recognized. Details please...
In the meantime, here is the list of troubleshooting atricles...hopefully something will be useful:

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).

How, exactly, di dyou make the attempt to put music on your BB? Using what methods, exactly. In most all methods, you are in complete control of the destination location for any media files that you transfer to the BB.

How, exactly, did you copy the video files to the BB? If you simply copied without doing some transcoding, the format may not be compatible with your BB. See this article:
KB05482 Media types supported on the BlackBerry smartphone
If you can get Media Manager working, it will transcode the files as it copies them into a format that is optimal for your specific BB. If you don't use Media Manager, then you must use other means (no, I've no idea) to transcode them if they are in a format that is not compatible.
You should also check that your device OS is updated to the most current from your carrier...see them via this portal:
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/dow
And if you think that the RIM software may be corrupt or not fully installed properly on your PC, you should follow this process.
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
5) Install DTM to your PC
6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
I'm sorry that I seem to have presented you with many options and more questions than answers...but the content of your post was not sufficient to fully diagnose anything, so I must use a broad brush approach to try and find you something that will help.
