Re: water damage

i accidently knocked a glass of water over and it went straight over my blackberry bold 9780. i panicked and turned it on, and i cant type in my password because when i type in letters it types extra letters with it! ive gone over it with a hairdryer on low heat and put the phone without the battery in a bag of dry rice and left it on top of a radiator, and the rest of the phone pieces (battery, sim card, memory card, back of phone) are sitting on the radiator as well.

I would appreciate it if someone could tell me something i could do to make it work as well as the things i have said.

Many thanks!

Re: water damage

ph-ti, at this point, time is your friend, so be patient for 4-5 days and leave it in the rice. Do NOT check it by putting the battery in. There's a great chance you'll be fine.

Re: water damage

I keep seeing people suggesting using a hair dryer to help save a water damaged phone.....this is a bad idea as it only drives the water deeper into the phone. I suggest using a vaccuum cleaner instead. then put it in silica packs or rice and put it in a fridge. the fridge is a dry environment and will help remove water

Re: water damage

Agreed, the hairdryer can also get too hot.
