$2 Million in Rewards Available for the BlackBerry 10 Last Chance Port-A-Thon

From the BlackBerry Developer blog.

Last call for porting apps starts Jan 18th – Register now for the Last Chance Port-A-Thon!

After staying up for 37.5 hours and working with some amazing developers to submit 15,060 apps, how do I reward myself? Obviously, by planning another port-a-thon this weekend! We’ve also doubled the reward opportunity for developers as we look for some new and exciting apps to add to BlackBerry World.

That’s right: this weekend we will have $2,000,000 available in rewards to developers for submitting their apps. Our last few port-a-thons have been so successful that we’re confident this weekend will yield some amazing apps for BlackBerry 10.

What apps are eligible, you ask? You can build/port apps using any one of the development languages that supports BlackBerry 10. Port from Android, use HTML5, Native C/C++, AIR, jQuery, Marmalade, Qt, PhoneGap, Appcelerator, Sencha and more. Additionally, apps created using BlackBerry App Generatorare also eligible. (Note: you need to own the blog content to be eligible)

All apps that are submitted will be reviewed and approved apps will be notified with rewards. You can find answers to any logistical questions here.

These port-a-thons are just part of our dedication to our developers and apps for our new BlackBerry 10 platform. We’re dedicated to building a healthy ecosystem for BlackBerry 10. We’re committed to our Built For BlackBerry initiative and our 10k developer commitment.

Get on board – now’s your chance to get your app ready for the BlackBerry 10 launch.

Re: $2 Million in Rewards Available for the BlackBerry 10 Last Chance Port-A-Thon

Hi Mark,

I have submitted two apps. One is porting my blog to BB 10 apps using App Generator and another is one android app which i ported to BB 10. I have some questions:

  1. When it will get approved?? How much time it use take for approval generally??
  2. If it is not approved or before approval, can i apply for BB 10 Limited Edition Offer?
  3. The Android App which i converted to BB 10 App, is actually developed using Sencha Touch 2. So how can i use BB 10 for Sencha Touch development ?? Is there any upcoming webcast regarding this??

And one more thing which i want to share is, BB 10 development is so easy compare to Java Development (As i am working on Java Dev from last 3 yrs). Hope i will get some answers..

Thanks

Re: $2 Million in Rewards Available for the BlackBerry 10 Last Chance Port-A-Thon

My experience with Android apps from the last portathon (Jan 11) is that they got back to me within the week.  But that might depend on the number that were submitted.

Here are the details with respect to applying for the Limited Edition.  Do it today:

http://devblog.blackberry.com/2013/01/blackberry-10-limited-edition-update-2/

It does not have to be approved.

You are on the wrong forum for your Sencha touch question.

But have a look at this:

http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Web-and-WebWorks-Development/Introducing-Sencha-Touch-2-1-on-...

Finally:

"BB 10 development is so easy compare to Java Development"

In my opinion, for native development, that would be true if C++ was as easy as Java.....

If they are both approved either should be fine.

I would use the one most likely to be approved.  But in fact it probably doesn't matter.  I thjink the idea is just to make sure that the people who got Dev Alphas actually developed an app!

Your app has to be approved in App World before you can apply for the Limited Edition device.

Re: But if i have submitted two apps, for which App ID i have...

Mark,

There appears to be some confusion regarding whether it needs to be submitted by today or approved by today.  Have a look at this post

This is from the Limited Edition forum:

The deadline is for submission.  But you can't apply for the Limited Edition device until after it's approved... or if you do it won't be processed until the app is approved.
