4.7 "navigation" bar

When I create a MainScreen in 4.7, I see a 'navigation' bar across the bottom that, by default, is populated with scroll buttons. I notice that some apps put up to three more buttons into that area.

How can I do that in my app? Can someone point me to the official name for that bar and/or the api that controls it?

I had a look through the 4.7 developer's guide, but it appears to be silent on this.

thx

rick

Re: 4.7 "navigation" bar

RIM decided not to expose the toolbar class in the API.

If you are seeing the "default" toolbar at the bottom of your MainScreen object, this is actually a bug in the first beta of the 4.7 simulator. Upgrade to the current version and this will go away.

You'll need to invent your own ToolbarField class.

Re: 4.7 "navigation" bar

Ok, where do I get the latest? I'm currently running 4.7.0.41 and that's the version that it claims is the one you can download when I go to the

Software Download for Device Simulators

page.

Re: 4.7 "navigation" bar

the link for the simulator under top downloads just takes me to the same page where I've already been. The version available for download there is 4.7.0.41 -- which is what I'm currently running, and what's showing the navigation bar by default.

Re: 4.7 "navigation" bar

Are you referring to the JDE version or the Simulator OS version?

I'm running 4.7.0.41 JDE and 4.7.0.61 Simulator. I do not see the issue on this setup.

On the previous JDE (I beleive was 4.7.0.39) the problem existed.

If you download the latest JDE version, it has the corrected simulator attached already.

Re: 4.7 "navigation" bar

Ah, thanks, that's the ticket... I am running JDE 4.7.0.35. I downloaded the simulator (4.7.0.41) separately.

Unfortunately, the latest standalone simulator you can download is 0.41.

This is going to be a problem if my clients can't get a version of the simulator without this bug to test with.

Re: 4.7 "navigation" bar

Download the entire JDE and just give your client a shortcut directly to the simulator start "batch" file.

Re: 4.7 "navigation" bar

Arrgghhhh....

I go here:

http://na.blackberry.com/eng/developers/devbetasoftware/devbeta.jsp#tab_tab_jde

and download and install the JDE 4.7 Beta

and the result is that I'm back to where I started... with JDE 4.7.0.39.

I cannot find a link for the JDE version that you have.

Re: 4.7 "navigation" bar

sorry... it went from .35 to .39, but still not to the 0.41 that you have.
