Hello,
I am trying to run the 5.0.0.228/9700 and 5.0.0.252/9500 simulators and they both run but extremely slowly. I run many other simulators without this problem. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Scott

Speaking from my own experience on this 9700 5.0.0.228 sim, I don't really notice any performance issues.

I have been running the 9500 simulator for OS 5.0 and it is actually faster for me than the 9530 simulator for OS 4.7 I ran originally.

I have the same problems on Vista 64. The OS 5.0 simulator packaged with the new JDE plugin runs extremely slowly - not to mention inconsistently. All other simulators are fine.
On my 32 bit machines it works fine (though OS5.0 takes forever to boot in debug mode).

Very interesting. Thanks for the input.
I am running Vista 32.

I'm running Vista 32, RIM has confirmed that there tools don't really work correctly on anything 64bit. So your problems might be because of that. At the same time the information that all other simulators are working fine conflicts with that. As superdirt said, very interesting.

I'm seeing the same behavior in 32 bit Vista. Did you find out what the problem was? Thanks...

I improved the speed of the simulators by increasing the process priority to realtime and setting affinity to all 4 CPUs in the Task Manager. I closed all unnecessary programs including background ones. The simulators run maybe twice as fast as they were but they are still running at a very slow speed.
I am almost able to bare the 9500/5.0.0.252 simulator after doing this, but the 9700/5.0.0.228 and 8530/5.0.0.37 sims are pretty much impossible to use because trackball feedback doesn't respond in realtime and the arrow keys behave unpredictably.
By making those changes in the Task Manager, the 9500/5.0.0.252 sim now it is fast enough that I can at least test some basic functionality for my apps on OS 5.0. It's slow but not raising-my-blood-pressure slow.
Another problem I am having is that when I load an app to the device in one session, close the sim and then open the sim again, the app is not in the Downloads folder. This is happening for the 9500/5.0.0.252 sim. I am not sure if it is happening for the other 5.0 sims because I can't navigate that far into the menus to get to the Downloads folder and check without bursting a blood vessel out of frustration.
I will write in this thread if I get any further with this issue.

I had the same problem - screen graphics taking minutes to update - graphic artifacts often on the screen.
This was on all the 5.0 simulators
I turned Off the graphics acceleration and have no problems now.
this is in View - Graphics Acceleration - Off on the simulator
The graphics acceleration option appears to be new to the 5.0 simulators.
