About splitting larger images and sending it as an attachment to the mail

Hello everybody,

I am sending image file (i.e. jpeg) as an attachment to the mail. But attachment size limit is 64kb.

By reading 'RFC2046', I have used the content type as 'message/partial' to send the image greater than 64kb.Programmatically splitted the image data into 64kb fragments. It is getting sent in multiple mails. But did not get reassembled when the mail is recieved. In the inbox I get same number of mails as I have sent instead of getting one mail. Do we have to do any settings at MTA (Mail transfer agent) side?

Please provide some solution to send image file as an attachments having size greater than 64kb.

Regards,
Shubhangi

Does the PC side mail client you are opening the message in support this?  Are you able to send and receive partial messages to/from it?

Re: About splitting larger images and sending it as an attachment to the mail

Hello Mark,

Thanks for reply.

I dont know whether PC side mail client support the parital message. I am using Microsoft office outlook 2003.

I am able to send multiple messages from blackberry device. But the messages are not getting reassembled at outlook.

First part of jpg image displays half of the image. But second part is not displayed. (May be the header required for jpg is not present in second attachment file).

Is there any other way to send large attachments?

Regards,

Shubhangi

BlackBerry handheld software version 4.5.0 does support the programmatic sending of attachments larger than 64k.  So if you can upgrade you BlackBerry you can make use of this.

Please check your carrier's web site for the latest BlackBerry handheld software.

Is there a way to programatically detect the maximum attachment size?  What is the maximum attachment size for software version 4.6 and up?

No, there is no way to programmatically detect the maximum attachment size.
