Application Launch Unlocks Handset

Hi,

I'm writing an app that can be triggered by an NFC event. We have noticed that if the handset is locked and our app is closed then when the NFC event occurs the launching of the app seems to unlock the handset. If the app is open and the handset is locked and the NFC event occurs then the handset doesn't unlock.

In both cases the application is displaying a screen in response to the NFC event. Is it expected behavior that the launching of the app would unlock the handset? What are the things that should cause the handset to unlock?

Regards,

Ben
