Application net_rim_media(48) is not responding; process terminated

Hi All

i am getting the error

Application net_rim_media(48) is not responding; process terminated

while playing a video. Once this error occurred, i am not able to play video again , it just displays a black screen.

I am testing my application on device 9700, v5.0.0.656 (Bundle 1111, Platform 5.1.0.53).

I have implemented a minimal RTSP stack , which connects to RTSP server and plays video.

Any body has idea, when this error occurs.

Thanks

Ankit

most likely you are blocking the ui thread.

move networking and all other blocking operations to a separate thread.

Re: Application net_rim_media(48) is not responding; process terminated

Hi Simon

I am not performing any activity in the main event thred, no blocking calls.

I have separate threads for RTP, RTCP and RTSP handling.

One more thing same application was working fine without this error on another 9700 device with slightly older version. I suspect this is firmware issue, as once i get this error, the RSP link doesnot work on Browser also. all time i get device media processor is busy message.

Thanks

Ankit

Re: Application net_rim_media(48) is not responding; process terminated

Hi,

I too have the same issue. My application works fine with 4.1/4.2/4.5/4.7/5.0  OS versions without any issue and it throws the same exception on OS version 4.6 (8350i iDEN network). It happens when it starts getting GPS fixes.

It would be helpful if someone helps to figure this out.

Thanks

Satheesh

Please refer to the following.

Process [ApplicationName] killed due to message queue overflow

Re: Application net_rim_media(48) is not responding; process terminated

Thanks Mark for the information.

My question is that the same code base is working fine with all other models (and OS too) and it fails with this (8350i model with 4.6/5.0 OS version) model. Is there any changes made for this model (specially it is on iDEN network). I doubt that there could be some changes made specially for this model or the message processing is very slow compare to other model and causing this issue.

Re: Application net_rim_media(48) is not responding; process terminated

in my experience these problems can arise if code was initially developed on faster devices and is now deployed on slower ones. some devices can cope better with event-thread clogging then others - you should avoid it at all cost.
