Best way to implement synchronization to a third-party application?

Hello,

I am researching how to synchronize my company's software application's database with the Blackberry Calendar and Contact information.  I read on these forums that one way is to develop a custom app on the Blackberry and an add-on to the Desktop software that communicate with each other to synchronize the data between my database and the Blackberry's.  Is this the best way to handle this, or is there some other built-in way to synchronize my application with the Blackberry calendar and contact information?

Thanks,

Janet Williams

I found out by accident Sun has a lot of synchroniztion software. If you use google  confined to their site, you can get some of their [ non-BB-specific] observations and techniques.

Re: Best way to implement synchronization to a third-party application?

Thanks for the pointer to the sun site.  We have looked at more general solutions too, including SyncML, but they are a larger development scope than we want at the moment, so I am looking for more Blackberry specific solutions.

If you have a BlackBerry Enterprise Server you could make use of the BlackBerry Synchronization Server SDK.  You can read about it here:

Re: Best way to implement synchronization to a third-party application?

Thank you for the link.  So it looks like those are the only two BlackBerry specific solutions available, the Synchronization Server SDK or the BlackBerry Desktop software approach, correct?

Thanks,

Janet
