BlackBerry IDE / OS X

Hey guys,

Eclipse runs on Mac.

Java runs on Mac.

Ant runs on Mac.

Why don't you guys offer a Mac version of the BlackBerry Development Tools?

I mean the Java ME SDK 3.0 is now available for Mac, and will be soon integrated into Netbeans.

Surely BlackBerry can do the same?

Thanks,

Mark

Re: BlackBerry IDE / OS X / Linux?

At the last Developer Conference RIM announced that the developer tools will be released for Mac OSX and Linux, then at the Super App web conference (from the summary I read) the Mac OSX version will be released "soon" so I can only guess that the Linux version will come out soon as well.

Re: BlackBerry IDE / OS X / Linux?

This is excellent news. Not only because it means that Mac and Linux users can develop natively, but also because it means that the IDE features and simulators will be developed closer to standards - making them easier to use and understand.

I suppose asking for Netbeans support is pushing it a bit, hey.

Re: BlackBerry IDE / OS X

Is there a beta testers group one can join to checkout the release?  I increasingly have  number of clients asking for support on blackberry.

Re: BlackBerry IDE / OS X

2010 BlackBerry Developer Conference is Sept. 27, if they don't announce anything there then I would say next year (though usually it takes them about a year before they come out with something).

Re: BlackBerry IDE / OS X

We now have a plug-in that supports OSX.  You can read about it here.
