It's not just for Eclipse.  A beta 7.0 BlackBerry JDE is available here:  http://us.blackberry.com/developers/javaappdev/javadevenv.jsp

Re: BlackBerry Java SDK v7.0 Beta Released

Was the Eclipse plugin itself updated or is it just a new Component Pack? Also it doesn't show up on the Update Site... unless a new version of the plugin is needed to see/use it.

Re: BlackBerry Java SDK v7.0 Beta Released

It is just a new component pack you download from the update site.  It is online now on the update site.  There was a delay in posting it, but it's there now.

Re: BlackBerry Java SDK v7.0 Beta Released

Mhmm, having some issues getting this installed:

Windows 7 32 -bit updated to the latest updates, running in Fushion with 2 GB assigned for memory.

Java JRE 6 update 24

Java SDK 6 update 24

Eclipse Java Plugin 1.3.0 (4 march 2011)

Using my email address + password also used for the developer site to login for the update site:

BlackBerry Java Plug-in Update Site

http://www.blackberry.com/go/eclipseUpdate/3.6/java

'Installing Software' has encountered a problem

An error occured while collecting items to be installed:

An error occurred while collecting items to be installedsession context was:smileysad:profile=SDKProfile, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=).Unable to read repository at https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/auth/contactFormPreload.do?code=DC727151E5D55DDE1E95076... password provided.

This happened after most of the items were already installed succesfully.

(can even run the simulator, go figure)

Any idea why my password only works halfway the update ?

Re: BlackBerry Java SDK v7.0 Beta Released

[ Edited ]

I've installed this evening. Not sure if this will apply to all, but at 37% the status on the install appeared to stop - initially while it downloaded the install package.

Once the download was complete the install appeared to stop for about 20 minutes (with the status still stuck on 37%) after which the install completed immediately. So much for status bars.

Be patient and don't cancel.

Interesting simulator! Comes with a device purporting to be a 9900 with OS 7 but the image from a 9780. Graphics are much better. Very nice app icons, and with a neat compass calibration tool and upgraded browser options.

Time to get into augmented reality.

I can't remember RIM releasing a beta to the broader developer community prior to the device release (except Playbook). Am I mistaken?
