BlackBerry browser not detecting phone numbers?

Hello friends,

I am using a Browserfield to open a web page. This web page contains some phones numbers which I want to detect and the user should be able to click on the lphone  number and should be able to initiate a call just by a click.

But for some reason the phone numbers are not getting detected.

Same thing happens even when i open the same web page in bb browser.

Can anyone suggest me any way to solve my problem??

Thanks!!

Re: BlackBerry browser not detecting phone numbers?

What version of BlackBerry device software are you using? Are you using the phone tag in your web page? Automatic phone number detection is not supported by the Webkit based 6.0+ BlackBerry Browser, but phone numbers in phone tags should work fine.

Re: BlackBerry browser not detecting phone numbers?

I am loading the webpage in BrowserField and need to make it work on 5.0 ( Curve 9300 and Storm 2 9500) as well as 6.0(Torch 9800)

The web page does not have phone tag, but still the phone numbers are detected on 5.0 and I can place a call by clicking on it.

But the phone numbers do not get detected in 6.0. Is there any way that the phone numbers will get detected without the tags?

I am planning to detect the phone numbers by parsing the html and using regex(pattern matching) and then inserting the phone tags. But it seems that regex (java.util.regex) is not supported by BB api, so I tried using 3rd party regex as well as html parsers but it seems there are some preverification issues.

Could you please sugggest me a work around to solve this problem?

Thanks a lot!

it will be a great help!

Re: BlackBerry browser not detecting phone numbers?

You are seeing the expected behaviour.  Phone numbers will not be recognized in 6.0 unless the phone tag is used.  You'll need to add them to your web page to support 6.0 users.
