I lost the opportunity to get the device, **bleep** it,
I'm a consultant and a customer needed me that day, this is really boring.
Is there a way where can I buy that device?

"they should sell this device to developers, not giving us for free only at the event."
RIM have, I believe good reasons for this approach, because going to the event::
a) Shows commitment
b) Allows RIM to provide personal input, presentations and demonstrations, the content of some of which may not be public.
c) Ensures the receiver gets the opportunity to learn how to use the device and what it can do.
And most importantly, giving it away means that RIM can give out what is essential a prototype, non functioning, useful to developers only, device without needing to put in place the infrastructure needed to support a similar for sale device.
So personally I understand why RIM is doing this. And since this is RIM's call, I think we just have to live with it!

Also I should point out that the dev alpha is not FCC approved. As such I believe that RIM could not legally sell the device if they wanted to
